Sierra Railway
Historical & Modelers Seminar
The Sierra Railway Seminar is an annual gathering of people interested in the history of the railroads of Tuolumne County, California. It generally is held in Sonora, CA. The Seminar is focused both on the history of the Sierra Railway (and other Tuolume County Railroads) and on modelling those railroads. This year’s Sierra Railway Seminar will be held onSunday, October 2, 2022. Click on the “2022 Seminar” button above for more information and a link to a pre-registration form.
Starting in 2022, the Sierra Railway Seminar is being presented as a program of a brand new non-profit organization known as the Tuolumne Historical Railroad Association, Inc. (“THRA”). THRA was formed with the goal of preserving and disseminating knowledge about the history of all the railroads of Tuolumne County. THRA plans to accomplish this by raising funds to acquire or restore key artifacts, preserving and organizing knowledge about those railroads, and sharing that knowledge through publications, websites, events, and other media. THRA is inviting all those who share these goals to become members. Click on the “THRA” button above for more information, and a link to a membership application form.
On the same weekend as the Sierra Railway Seminar is the West Side Reunion on October 1, 2022. This annual event was started in 1986, and is similar to the Sierra Seminar, except that it focuses more on logging railroads. While mutually supportive, the two events are conducted independently, and require separate registrations. Click on the “LINKS” button above to access a link to the West Side Reunion webpage, which includes registration information.
